On October 13, 2026, the State Archive of the Mogilev Region<\/strong> hosted the presentation of a documentary exhibition titled \u00abA Name on the Map of Mogilev: Ivan Sidorovich Lazarenko\u00bb<\/strong>. The exhibition honors the memory of Hero of the Soviet Union Major General Ivan Lazarenko, after whom a street and a public garden in Mogilev are named.<\/p>\n

Guests at the event included Grigory Lazarenko \u2014 the renowned general’s grandson and author of the book \u00abTruth and Fiction Regarding the Fate of I.S.Lazarenko, Hero of Five Wars\u00bb<\/strong> \u2014 as well as Mikhail Ryskov<\/strong>, a well-known local historian and writer from Mogilev, and students from the Mogilev State Medical College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The exhibition was presented by Alexey Shvyrev, an archivist (First Qualification Category) from the Department of Scientific Use and Publication of Documents<\/strong>. He spoke about the process of enshrining General I.S.Lazarenko\u2019s<\/strong> name in historical memory and the city’s street names, as well as the importance of using archival documents when researching this topic.<\/p>\n

The exhibition features unique archival documents from the collections of regional and municipal authorities, materials from the post-war local press, and various maps and diagrams.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, Grigory Lazarenko <\/strong>shared family memories and photographs, recounted key stages of his grandfather’s life and military career, and emphasized the importance of preserving an accurate historical record, including through the use of archival documents.<\/p>\n

Held within the archive itself, the event served as a meeting point for different generations and offered young people an opportunity to learn more about their city’s history. The exhibition is open to the public in the archive’s reading room. <\/p>\n
