On October 14, 2026\u2014marking one of autumn\u2019s warmest and most touching holidays \u2014 a celebratory event took place at the State Archive of the Gomel Region<\/strong>, dedicated to Mother\u2019s Day and the Orthodox Feast of the Intercession of the Theotokos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Archive Director Yuri Shestopalov<\/strong> and the head of the primary trade union organization, Svetlana Primakova<\/strong>, offered warm and heartfelt congratulations to the staff\u2014the majority of whom are women\u2014on this wonderful, joyous occasion. Yuri Shestopalov shared interesting facts about the origins of Mother\u2019s Day with the team and expressed gratitude to the women of the archive, whose family love and care serve as the primary and most reliable foundation in life.<\/p>\n

\u00abOnly a mother knows how to love her children so selflessly and devotedly; she imparts the first lessons of morality and upholds family ideals\u2014such as honor and dignity, friendship and mutual support, respect for parents, mercy, and kinship ties\u00bb, said Yuri Shestopalov.<\/em><\/p>\n

During the celebration held in the archive\u2019s reading room, the results were announced and an awards ceremony took place for participants in the \u00abBelarusian Woman: Guardian of Family Values\u00bb<\/strong> contest. This competition was dedicated to promoting the \u00abYear of the Belarusian Woman\u00bb<\/strong> initiative and fostering engagement with the country\u2019s cultural heritage.<\/p>\n

Entries in the \u00abBeauty Created by Women’s Hands\u00bb<\/strong> decorative and applied arts category featured original works crafted by archive staff, including handmade textile soft toys, beadwork, autumn still-life arrangements (using vegetables, fruits, wood, and natural materials), and woven crafts \u2014 all reflecting the spirit of the \u00abYear of the Belarusian Woman\u00bb<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

The \u00abImage of a Woman in the Family Archive\u00bb<\/strong> category featured genealogical research \u2014 drawn from the archivists’ own family archives \u2014 highlighting the heroic lives of women during the Great Patriotic War.<\/p>\n

It was incredibly difficult for the expert panel to select the winners, as each entry was a unique masterpiece requiring immense patience, talent, and skill.<\/p>\n

In the \u00abBeauty Created by Women\u00bb<\/strong> decorative and applied arts category, Svetlana Vishnyakova<\/strong> (Building Operations and Maintenance Group) was awarded a First-Degree Diploma for her high level of craftsmanship, preservation of national traditions, and creative approach to the country’s cultural heritage<\/strong>; accountant Olga Krivenkova<\/strong> received a Second-Degree Diploma, and archivist Olga Kotsur<\/strong> received a Third-Degree Diploma<\/strong>. Archivists Tamara Makarevich and Olga Taplenkina, along with Olga Shurovskaya (Head of the Information Retrieval Systems and Automated Archival Technologies Department), were named laureates and received diplomas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Archivist Viktoria Rudenko<\/strong> and Olga Shurovskaya <\/strong>(Head of the Information Retrieval Systems and Automated Archival Technologies Department) were awarded First-Degree Diplomas for preserving family traditions, cherishing their family roots, and demonstrating historical value and creative visualization in their research<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Contest winners and participants were presented with honorary diplomas and well-deserved commemorative gifts.<\/p>\n

In his closing remarks, Yuri Shestopalov<\/strong> thanked all participants for preserving national traditions and demonstrating a creative approach, and wished the women good health, family well-being, and peace.<\/p>\n
