On July 9, 2026, E.A.Makarenko<\/strong>, Director of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI)<\/strong>, attended the opening of the exhibition \u00abAlexander Semiletov: The First of a Dynasty\u00bb<\/strong>, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the outstanding artist and teacher’s birth, at the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus.<\/p>\n

The exhibition features approximately 30 paintings by the artist, created between the 1960s and 1980s. The works are drawn from the collection of the National Art Museum, the collection of the Belarusian Union of Artists, and the personal collection of the artist’s family. The exhibition features a wide range of genres, including landscapes, portraits, and narrative paintings. The exhibition’s most prominent works are those painted by the artist in his late period, when he discovered the amazing natural beauty of the Zhitkovichi Polesie region. <\/p>\n

Since the project was conceived as a demonstration of creative continuity, the exhibition also features works by the artist’s son, Boris Semiletov<\/strong>, and his grandson, Ivan, who is also the grandson of the People’s Writer of Belarus, Ivan Melezh<\/strong>. BGAMLI<\/strong> collaborates closely with Ivan Semiletov<\/strong>. For example, in February 2026, he participated in the opening of the literary and documentary exhibition \u00abThe Source of Inspiration \u2013 the Life of the People\u00bb<\/strong>, dedicated to the 105th anniversary of his second famous grandfather, the People’s Writer Ivan Melezh.<\/p>\n

Today, the works of the Semiletov artists, with their recognizable individual style, have received professional awards and are known far beyond the borders of the country. The source of this vibrant dynasty was Alexander Fedorovich. His personality and skill gave the family the very impetus that defined their shared life and creative path. <\/p>\n

The exhibition will run until August 18, 2026, in the main building and transition gallery of the National Art Museum (20 Lenin Street)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
