The meeting was chaired by the Center’s Deputy Director, A.A.Paplevka<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Technical support for the meeting and a film screening were provided by the Center’s Assistant Director, A.V.Khvalevko<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Andrei Anatolyevich spoke to those gathered about the difficult and challenging path our country has traveled from the creation of the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic within the Soviet Union to the establishment of the modern independent Republic of Belarus. This includes overcoming the devastation and famine resulting from the Civil War, collectivization, and industrialization during the building of socialism, the annexation of Western Belarus as a result of the Red Army’s liberation campaign, the years of war with Nazi Germany and its satellites, the years of occupation, the nationwide struggle against the enemy in the form of the underground and partisan movement, and the post-war restoration of the national economy…<\/p>\n

All stages of the formation of an independent Belarusian state are reflected in the film \u00abIndependence Day: A Chronicle of Belarusian Statehood\u00bb<\/strong>, dedicated to the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus<\/strong>. It was created by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents<\/strong> under the general supervision of O.L.Voinov<\/strong>, Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus. V.G.Mazets<\/strong>, PhD in History and leading researcher at the NARB, served as scientific consultant for the film.<\/p>\n

The film was created as part of the Open Film Archive project<\/strong>. The film prominently features events related to the process of establishing and strengthening the sovereignty of the Republic of Belarus, as well as the place and role of the first President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko<\/strong>, in this process.<\/p>\n

The film was viewed with interest by the staff of the Belarusian Center for the Digitalization of Archival Activities.<\/p>\n
