On June 19, 2026, on the birthday of the People’s Writer of Belarus, Vasyl Bykov, employees of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter – BGAMLI) visited Vasyl Bykov’s dacha museum in Zhdanovichi, a branch of the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature – a partner of BGAMLI.<\/p>\n

The head of the branch, Irina Rostislavovna Knyazeva, conducted an exciting and very emotionally warm excursion for the archivists. The guests learned in detail about the history of the construction of the dacha, where Vasily Vladimirovich spent a lot of time together with his wife Irina Mikhailovna. Nothing has changed in the rooms of the house – in the living room and kitchen, everything has remained exactly as it was during the life of the owners.<\/p>\n

During the visit, BGAMLI employees saw rare museum objects that convey the atmosphere of the life and work of the people’s writer. In the office on the second floor, a table lamp and a typewriter are in their places, and his jacket hangs on the back of the chair.<\/p>\n

The artistic heritage of Vasyl Bykov was of special interest to the visitors. His paints and watercolor drawings are stored in the attic of the house. At the dacha, the writer liked to draw more than to write. It is known that Vasily Vladimirovich had an artistic talent and always carried a notebook with him: he sketched everything that happened around him. On the walls of the dacha, you can also see many funny pictures about events related to dacha life. A garage is located at the bottom of the building. Bykov was an avid motorist, repaired the car himself and traveled a lot, so drawings about his motoring adventures occupy a special place in the exhibition.<\/p>\n

This meeting gave the guests unforgettable impressions, filling their hearts with a sense of nostalgia and spiritual warmth. The visit to the Museum-Dacha of Vasyl Bykov became for the employees of the Archive-Museum not only a tribute to the great master of words on his birthday, but also a great opportunity to exchange professional experience with fellow museum workers in the preservation of our common historical and cultural heritage.<\/p>\n
