On June 15, 2026, a memorial evening was held in the reading room of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BSAMLI)<\/strong> to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Oleg Tikhonovich Avdeyev<\/strong> (1926\u20132025), an outstanding Belarusian cinematographer and Honored Cultural Worker of the Republic of Belarus. The event was organized by the BSAMLI<\/strong>, the Belarusian Society of Archivists, the Belarusian Union of Cinematographers, and the Screen Arts Department of the Center for Research of Belarusian Culture, Language, and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The legacy of this master, who graduated from the VGIK under the guidance of A.Galperin and E.Tisse and spent nearly forty years working at the Belarusfilm studio, includes such iconic films as \u00abA Girl Seeks Her Father\u00bb, \u00abKrinitsy\u00bb, \u00abWolf Pack\u00bb, \u00abThe Commander’s Daughter\u00bb, and \u00abThe Emperor’s Romance\u00bb<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

BGAMLI Director E.A.Makarenko<\/strong> addressed the audience with an opening address. The meeting was moderated by A.A.Karpilova<\/strong>, PhD in Art History and Head of the Screen Arts Department at the Center for Research of Belarusian Culture, Language, and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. She presented the landmark book \u00ab100 Years of Belarusian Cinema: Stages, Films, Masters\u00bb<\/strong> and analyzed the creative path of Oleg Tikhonovich Avdeyev, emphasizing the vast significance of his work and his invaluable contribution to the development of national cinema. Leading archivist at the Belarusian State Academy of Film and Television Literature (BSAMLI) T.A.Anpilogova<\/strong> presented a thematic exhibition of archival documents to guests, timed to coincide with the master’s centenary.<\/p>\n

During the event, P.V.Krivostanenko<\/strong>, Associate Professor of the Department of Cinematography and Sound Engineering at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts; V.A.Stepanova<\/strong>, member of the Presidium of the Belarusian Union of Cinematographers; and I.O. Avdeyev<\/strong>, the cinematographer’s son and film critic and co-founder of the Museum of the History of Belarusian Cinema, shared their memories of Oleg Avdeyev. He spoke about his father’s paintings, which were on display at the event. As it turned out, painting was one of the most prominent aspects of Oleg Tikhonovich’s creative work, and the history of the railway was a key theme in his canvases.<\/p>\n

The creative atmosphere of the meeting was enhanced by a screening of O.T.Avdeyev’s documentary \u00abOn the Oka\u00bb<\/strong> and the biographical film \u00abIn Motion\u00bb<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
