As is well known, the profession of archivist-restorer has its own unique characteristics, as training in this specialty is not offered by any educational institution in the country. Candidates develop into unique specialists on the job through training and mentorship from experienced colleagues.<\/p>\n

At the request of the management of the Minsk Region State Archives, the Central Laboratory for Document Preservation of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus<\/strong> organized an internship for archivists involved in the restoration of archival documents from May 19 to 22.<\/p>\n

The laboratory staff introduced their colleagues to all stages of the technological process of microbiological examination, disinfection, restoration, binding, and digitization of archival documents.<\/p>\n

The interns clearly saw that preserving and restoring the original appearance of archival documents requires meticulous attention, extensive experience, and responsibility. On the job, they learned skills in selecting special restoration paper, preparing glue, and using specialized equipment and tools according to the technological process.<\/p>\n
