On May 6, 2026, the National Library of the Republic of Belarus<\/strong> held the grand opening of the exhibition \u00abThe Legendary Comandante. A Heroic Epic\u00bb<\/strong>, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Cuban leader Fidel Castro’s birth<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Documents from the collections of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents<\/strong> and the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus<\/strong>, provide excellent illustrative material on cooperation between Belarus and Cuba from the 1960s to the present day \u2013 materials on Castro’s visit to the USSR in 1963, to Belarus in 1972, and photo chronicles of high-level contacts. The exhibition, which presents the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, as well as the history of relations between Belarus and Cuba, is based on materials from the National Library of the Republic of Belarus.<\/p>\n

Welcoming remarks were made by Santiago P\u00e9rez Ben\u00edtez, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Belarus; Vadim Frantsevich Gigin, Director of the National Library of the Republic of Belarus; and Andrei Nikolaevich Gonchar, Director of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The exhibition will run from May 6 to 10 in the atrium on the second floor of the National Library, and from May 11 to September 13 in the circular gallery on the third floor.<\/strong><\/p>\n
