On April 8, 2026, an educational event dedicated to ensuring the physical preservation of archival documents<\/strong> was held at the National Historical Archives of Belarus<\/strong>. Inessa Adamovna Goncharova, a leading researcher at the Belarusian Research Institute of Documentation and Archival Science and a PhD candidate in biology<\/strong>, delivered the lecture to archive staff.<\/p>\n

The main topic of the presentation was the protection of paper media from biological factors, particularly mold, which pose a serious threat to archives.<\/p>\n

The lecture covered the following topics in detail:<\/strong><\/p>\n

– how microbial activity leads to irreversible damage to paper and text fading;
\n– maintaining temperature and humidity conditions in storage facilities and sanitary and hygienic treatment of premises;
\n– an action plan for detecting sources of biological contamination and modern methods of document disinfection.<\/p>\n

The lecture generated interest among archival staff, as Inessa Adamovna is a recognized expert in mycology and the author of relevant scientific and practical recommendations for the protection of archival documents. The knowledge gained will help the staff of the National Archives of Belarus more effectively ensure the preservation of archival documents.<\/p>\n
