On March 17, 2026, staff of the Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art<\/strong> (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI) took part in the grand opening of the literary and art exhibition \u00abGraphic Aphorisms by Mikhail Lisovsky\u00bb<\/strong>. This project is the result of a fruitful collaboration between the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature and BGAMLI<\/strong> and is timed to coincide with the 95th anniversary of the birth of the renowned graphic artist Mikhail Yakovlevich Lisovsky<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

BGAMLI Director Elena Makarenko<\/strong> delivered the opening remarks. She emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting the creative legacy of artists and noted the uniqueness of the collection of caricatures held in the archive-museum’s collection.<\/p>\n

Irina Knyazeva, Head of the Scientific and Exhibition Department of the Literature Museum<\/strong>, discussed the exhibition’s concept in more detail. The exhibition is structured around a dialogue between fine art and documentary footage: alongside archival photographs of writers from the literary museum’s collections are vivid and apt works by Mikhail Lisovsky. The artist possessed a rare gift: he was able to portray his contemporaries\u2014artists, writers, and musicians\u2014expressively, figuratively, and with good humor. His portrait caricatures are unparalleled in their wit, richness, and precision of characterization and have long since become a notable feature of national culture.<\/p>\n

The exhibition features original caricatures of outstanding literary masters from the rich collections of the Belarusian State Literary Museum and Literature. Among the \u00abheroes\u00bb of these graphic aphorisms are Ales Adamovich, Mikhail Lynkov, Ivan Shamyakin, Vasil Vitko, Kondrat Krapiva, Artur Volsky, Evdokia Los, Vera Vyarba, Evgeniya Yanishchits, Vasil Bykov, Pimen Panchenko, Arkady Kuleshov, and many others. Each caricature is accompanied by the author’s text, which helps to better understand the artist’s intent and the character of each character.<\/p>\n

We invite all art and literature lovers to visit the exhibition \u00abGraphic Aphorisms by Mikhail Lisovsky\u00bb, which will be on display at the State Museum of the History of Belarusian Literature, located at 13 M.Bogdanovich Street (Troitskoye Predmestye), Minsk<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
