On this day in 1989, the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan was completed.<\/p>\n<p>In Belarus, the patriotism and courage of internationalist soldiers is highly valued. <strong>The memorial complex \u00abIsland of Courage and Sorrow\u00bb in Minsk symbolizes the memory of the Afghan War.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On February 15, 2026, <strong>representatives of the public associations \u00abBRSM\u00bb and \u00abBelaya Rus\u00bb of the State Archives of the Minsk Region<\/strong>, on behalf of the entire staff of the institution, <strong>laid flowers at the foot of the memorial, paying tribute to all those who were destined to find themselves in the epicenter of military operations outside their homeland<\/strong>.
