As part of the national «Archives for School» campaign, they presented their own cartoon, «Keepers of Memory», created using artificial intelligence technology.

The cartoon’s main characters are the inquisitive girl Masha, the wise Grandfather, Documentus, and the young Archivist. Through their dialogues and adventures, children are taught in an accessible way that archives are not just a repository of old papers, but a living world where every page and every signature matters. Documentus shows Masha soldiers’ letters, «maps» of old Minsk, and photographs of her ancestors, while the Archivist explains that the archive is a «bridge» between the past and the future. The cartoon’s plot explores important ideas: the continuity of generations, the value of memory, and the need to carefully preserve documents. It emphasizes that history comes to life only when it is read, studied, and preserved. Thus, archives are presented as a mysterious and fascinating world where the soul of a people is preserved.

The Molodechno archive’s initiative is an example of how modern technology can be used to foster respect for historical memory in young schoolchildren. The cartoon «Keepers of Memory» can help children feel a connection to the past, recognize the importance of archives, and understand that documents are part of their personal and national history. Furthermore, the cartoon can become a vibrant and visual element during student tours of the archive, and can be used in presentations and thematic meetings, making the archival world more engaging and accessible to the younger generation.

In the photos: Episodes

Staff at the Zonal State Archives in Molodechno have implemented a new initiative aimed at promoting archival heritage among young children.
