On January 15, 2026, staff of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art<\/strong> (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI) took part in the opening of the exhibition \u00abInstead of a Thousand Words\u00bb<\/strong>, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Natalia Nikolaevna Poplavskaya and the 95th anniversary of Georgy Georgievich Poplavsky<\/strong>. The exhibition was organized by the National Library of Belarus<\/strong> jointly with the Union of Artists of Belarus<\/strong> and the artist’s daughter, Ekaterina Georgievna Poplavskaya<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

People’s Artist of Belarus Georgy Poplavsky<\/strong> is the recipient of dozens of international and state awards, a prominent artist of the 1960s, one of the first authors of the \u00abhard style\u00bb, a book illustrator, and writer who traveled half the world and created a series of works about his travels. In his work, Georgy Poplavsky explored many themes, one of the main ones being the Great Patriotic War. A number of works were devoted to space, Belarusian history, modern times, the Chernobyl disaster, and others.<\/p>\n

N.N.Poplavskaya, an artist, graphic artist, illustrator, co-author, muse, and colleague of Georgy Georgievich<\/strong>, was awarded a diploma and the Francysk Skarina Medal. Natalya Nikolaevna’s book and easel paintings are dedicated to folklore, the uniqueness of Belarusian culture, and nature, embodied in a fairytale-like and poetic interpretation of folk life and united by a subtle sense of style.<\/p>\n

The exhibition \u00abInstead of a Thousand Words\u00bb presents cycles and individual easel paintings by members of a dynasty of outstanding artists.<\/p>\n

During a meeting between M.I.Pishinskaya, Head of the Department of Organizational Archives and Formation of the National Archival Fund<\/strong>, and E.G.Poplavskaya, an agreement was reached to further enrich the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus with her parents’ documents.<\/p>\n
