The event was held as part of the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Zheleznodorozhny District of Vitebsk<\/strong> and was dedicated to meeting with the authors of the publication \u00abHere the Past Doesn’t Disappear, but Becomes the Foundation\u00bb<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The publication was initiated by the administration of the Zheleznodorozhny District of Vitebsk<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the publication is to link the history of the district and its present into an indivisible whole.<\/p>\n

The State Archives of the Vitebsk Region<\/strong> and the Belarusian State Academy of Cultural and Historical Information<\/strong> (BSACFI) participated in the preparation of the publication on behalf of the archival institutions. The book was compiled by Tatyana Buevich, Deputy Director of the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region<\/strong>, and Anzhelika Mikhailova, Deputy Head of the Zheleznodorozhny District Administration<\/strong>. The authors are Tatyana Buevich, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Sergei Nikolaenko<\/strong>, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Communications at P.M.Masherov Vitebsk State University, and Gleb Orlovsky<\/strong>, research fellow at the Vitebsk Regional Museum of the Hero of the Soviet Union M.F.Shmyrev.<\/p>\n

The Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents<\/strong> contributed priceless photographs for the publication, most of which are published for the first time.<\/p>\n

The event elicited a lively response from the students. The authors were asked questions.<\/p>\n

Andrei Nikolaevich Gonchar, Director of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents<\/strong>, brought a surprise \u2013 newsreels dedicated to Vitebsk in 1918 and 1931. The students were able to experience the city’s history \u00abin the flesh\u00bb.<\/p>\n
