On September 11, 2025, a presentation of the exhibition project \u00abSong is the soul of the people\u00bb<\/strong> was held, prepared by the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art<\/strong> (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI), the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents<\/strong> (hereinafter referred to as BGAKFFD) together with the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u00abSong is the soul of the people, its living history\u00bb<\/em> – these words belong to the choral conductor, composer, teacher, musicologist-folklorist, People’s Artist of the BSSR and the USSR Grigory Romanovich Shirma<\/strong> (1892-1978).<\/p>\n

In 1940, G.R.Shirma organized and headed the Belarusian Song and Dance Ensemble, which is now called the State Academic Choir of the Republic of Belarus named after G.Shirma<\/strong>. In 2025, the group celebrated its 85th anniversary<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The exhibition exposition consists of an informational, graphic and subject part. QR codes are placed on the tablets, thanks to which visitors will be able to listen to recordings of the choir’s performances from the funds of the BGAKFFD. Exhibits and archival materials from the funds of the BGAMLI and the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus will tell about the life and work of G.R. Shirma and his group: personal belongings, photographs and documents. Much attention is paid to the Belarusian folk musical culture, which became the basis for the work of the choir. The exposition also presents materials from the collections of the National Library of Belarus, the State Academic Choir of the Republic of Belarus named after G.Shirma and the Belarusian State Philharmonic.<\/p>\n
