On May 17, 2025, as part of events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, employees of the institution \u00abState Archive of Public Associations of the Mogilev Region\u00bb<\/strong> together with colleagues from the institution \u00abState Archive of the Mogilev Region\u00bb<\/strong> visited the memorial complex \u00abIn Memory of the Burnt Villages of the Mogilev Region\u00bb in the village of Borki, Kirovsky District<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On June 15, 1942, the German invaders carried out one of the most massive punitive operations against civilians in Belarus. More than 2,000 people died in the village of Borki that day. These were residents of Borki and surrounding villages. The village of Borki was revived over time, but many other villages disappeared from the map of Belarus forever after the tragedy.<\/p>\n

Archive employees, paying tribute to the dead and preserving the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War, honored the memory of innocently killed civilians. They visited the memorial complex, the local museum and the chapel in honor of the icon of the Mother of God \u00abSeeking the Dead\u00bb.<\/p>\n
