On May 6, 2025, employees of the State Archives of the Gomel Region<\/strong> took part in the \u00abLesson of Courage\u00bb<\/strong> at the Gomel State Polytechnic College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The director of the archive, Yuri Shestopalov<\/strong>, addressed the students with words about what courage is and how important it is for each of us to preserve the memory of the exploits of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War. He told the students about the tragic pages of the history of Belarus during the Great Patriotic War, about the genocide of the Belarusian people and the heroism of Soviet soldiers and partisans. Continuing the theme of the partisan movement on the territory of Belarus during the Great Patriotic War, senior researcher Maya Vashchenko<\/strong> spoke about archival documents related to the activities of the partisans of the Gomel region. The students learned about the subversive activities of the partisans of the Zheleznyak Brigade in the captured territories of the Zhlobin and Streshinsky Districts of the Gomel Region. And also about the exploits of the Dobrush Partisan Brigade named after Stalin.<\/p>\n

A true example of courage was the partisan and pioneer Eva Moskalenko. She was only 12 years old, and she was a signalman-scout in the Dobrush Partisan Detachment. Eva distributed leaflets, reports from the Information Bureau, and informed the partisans about the location of enemy firing points. The archive contains an award sheet on the nomination of Eva Moskalenko for the medal \u00abPartisan of the Patriotic War, 2nd degree\u00bb.<\/p>\n

The students watched with interest the documentary film of the BGAKFFD \u00abBelarus – Partisan Republic\u00bb<\/strong> about the exploits of the partisans during the war. The event was attended by employees of the Gomel Regional Museum of Military Glory, representatives of the clergy and actors of the Gomel Regional Drama Theater.<\/p>\n

The years take us further and further away from those terrible years that we have no right to forget. \u00abLessons of Courage\u00bb is a contribution to the future of our country, to the education of true patriots.<\/p>\n
