On May 5, 2025, the State Archives of the Gomel Region<\/strong> held a Memory lesson<\/strong> at the UO \u00abGomel State College of Builders\u00bb<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

During the lesson, the director of the archive, Yuri Shestopalov<\/strong>, addressed the students with words about the importance of self-determination of the individual during a difficult political situation on the world stage. In some European countries, monuments to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, who saved the world from the brown plague of fascism, are being demolished. The facts of Western political scientists overestimating the significance of the historical contribution of the Soviet Union to the Great Victory are deliberately directed at modern youth. The younger generation is obliged to be critical of attempts to erase historical memory. In 2022, the law \u00abOn the genocide of the Belarusian people\u00bb was adopted. The law establishes criminal liability for public denial of the genocide of the Belarusian people, for example, by posting relevant information in the media or on the Internet. Knowledge of the history of the native land, careful attitude to the memorial burial places of those killed during the Great Patriotic War is the main task of our time. Belarus will never forget its Heroes who gave their lives on the battlefield.<\/p>\n

Senior researcher Maya Vashchenko<\/strong> told the students about the documents of the Extraordinary Commission on economic damage and atrocities of the fascists in the Gomel region, stored in the archive.<\/p>\n

Fewer and fewer participants and witnesses of that terrible war remain. We, generations that did not know the war, must remember the examples of the heroic fortitude of Soviet soldiers, partisans and underground fighters, the selfless work of women, teenagers and children who fought and worked in the deep rear for the sake of the future, ensuring their contribution to the Great Victory. The students watched the documentary film BGAKFFD \u00abThe History of the Great Victory\u00bb<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

At the end of the event, the students of the college demonstrated an exhibition made by their own hands and dedicated to the most beautiful corners of the city of Gomel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
