The opening of the new building of the State Archives of the Mogilev Region<\/strong> took place on the eve of the Constitution Day of the Republic of Belarus<\/strong> – the main holiday of the Belarusian statehood.<\/p>\n

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Belarus E.I.Kovalenko, Deputy Chairman of the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee G.I.Dengalev, Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management O.L.Voinov<\/strong>, employees of the state archives of the region and the Main Department of Justice of the Regional Executive Committee.<\/p>\n

In his welcoming speech during the ceremony, the Minister of Justice E.I.Kovalenko<\/strong> noted that the preservation of archival documents is the most important task for any state and with the commissioning of the new archive in the Mogilev Region, there is great potential for collecting documents for many years.<\/p>\n

O.L.Voinov<\/strong> emphasized that the opening of the new building of the State Archives of the Mogilev Region was significant not only for Mogilev and the region, but also for the entire archival industry. Over the course of a year, the country presented archivists with four archives equipped with modern equipment with a total area of seven thousand square meters and the ability to accommodate more than one million seven hundred and forty thousand storage units of documents of the National Archival Fund. \u00abNever in the history of the Soviet Union and modern Belarus have our archivists received such an important and necessary gift in such a short time\u00bb, the Director of the Department noted.<\/p>\n

Today, the regional archive stores more than 2 thousand funds and more than 500 thousand storage units (including 93 funds that are classified as especially valuable). The new premises are designed for 350 thousand storage units and are equipped with systems that meet modern standards and technical requirements necessary for storing and using documents.<\/em><\/p>\n

At the end of the ceremony, the Minister of Justice E.I.Kovalenko<\/strong> and the invitees got acquainted with the working conditions and storage of documents in the new building of the institution \u00abState Archives of the Mogilev Region\u00bb. As part of the event, the Director of the Department O.L.Voinov<\/strong> also visited the State Archive of Public Associations of the Mogilev Region<\/strong>, where he heard from the Director of the Archive E.A.Nabokova<\/strong> about the archive\u2019s performance of its tasks, visited the archive storage facilities and work premises, and got acquainted with the archive\u2019s material and technical base.<\/p>\n
