On February 20, 2025, the documentary exhibition \u00abOn guard of the Fatherland at all times\u00bb<\/strong> opened at the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus<\/strong>. This is a joint project prepared by several archives – the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, the National Historical Archives of Belarus and the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents<\/strong>. It is dedicated to the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus is a public holiday that has its own history.<\/strong><\/p>\n

On February 23, 1918, the Red Army units won their first victories near Pskov and Narva over the regular troops of Kaiser’s Germany. These first victories became the birthday of the Red Army. In 1922, this date was officially declared the Day of the Red Army. Since 1946, the holiday has been called the Day of the Soviet Army and Navy.<\/p>\n

By Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated March 26, 1998 No.157, the holiday celebrated on February 23 was named the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus.<\/p>\n

In the exhibition project dedicated to the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus presented documents: combat leaflets of partisan detachments and brigades, wall newspapers and posters of party, Komsomol and anti-fascist organizations created during the Great Patriotic War; drawings by partisan artists. The exhibits presented at the exhibition are unique. The exhibition also features publications from the newspaper collection of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus: \u00abZvezda\u00bb of February 23, 1919, \u00abKrasnaya Zvezda\u00bb of February 23, 1941, \u00abRazdavim fascistskuyu gadzina\u00bb of February 23, 1943-44, and documents of prominent political figures V.I.Kozlov and V.I.Livencev from the archival funds of personal origin.<\/p>\n
