On December 26, 2024, as part of the campaign \u00abArchives for School\u00bb<\/strong>, an excursion was organized for students of grade 8 \u00abG\u00bb of the State Educational Institution \u00abSecondary School No.197 of Minsk named after the Heroes of the 120th Division\u00bb<\/strong> in the Belarusian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The excursion to the archive was conducted by the archivist of the 2nd category of the Department of Information and Use of Documents Nikita Andreevich Gornostaev<\/strong>. The schoolchildren got acquainted with the history of the archive, the building it occupies, as well as the structure and direction of the archive’s activities.<\/p>\n

Particular attention was paid to familiarization with the work of the archival storage facilities, where the head of the department of preservation and accounting of documents M.A.Mikhailova<\/strong> spoke in detail about the creation of optimal conditions for storing valuable documents, the rules for their placement, the procedure for issuing and recording cases, and measures to ensure the safety of archival materials in emergency situations.<\/p>\n

In the archive reading room, students familiarized themselves with the design documentation of the National Library of Belarus, the exhibition of archival documents \u00abReligious Architecture of Belarus\u00bb, as well as with a banner exhibition dedicated to the history and modern development of the Belarusian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation and the restoration of Minsk after the Great Patriotic War.<\/p>\n

Such events help to broaden students’ horizons, help them understand the significance and role of archives in the modern world, and may help someone decide on a future profession.<\/p>\n
