Father’s Day<\/strong> is celebrated in the Republic of Belarus on October 21. A man, a father, is the foundation of the family, the one who will protect it from misfortunes and hardships, who will always support and lend a helping hand. Today, strengthening the role of fatherhood is one of the most important tasks of the state family policy. On October 21, at a ceremonial meeting of the staff, the director of the National Archives of Belarus Mikhail Glushakov<\/strong> and deputy director Natalia Buloichik<\/strong> congratulated the male employees of the archive on Father’s Day and wished them good health, long life, family happiness and well-being. Before the meeting, the male part of the staff was presented with sweet gifts.<\/p>\n

An exhibition of documents from the 16th to early 20th centuries was prepared for the event, which was presented by the head of the research and publication department Sergei Ryndin<\/strong>. The rarest document was the will of Urban Stanislavovich Dovksha, in which guardians were instructed to look after his son Joseph and send him to school. The document is dated August 15, 1589. Among the other documents are petitions from fathers from different social strata for the admission of their children to educational institutions at the beginning of the 20th century, as well as letters from veterans of the First World War \u2013 former students of the Rogachev Teachers’ Seminary. The letters end with warm greetings to their relatives and, first of all, to their parents.<\/p>\n
