Yanka Kupala also took part in the most important event of that significant year – the People’s Assembly of Western Belarus in Bialystok. The central exhibit of the exhibition «Beznazounaya» was the poem by Yanka Kupala with the same name. The curator of the exhibition, Maria Bartkova, told how this poem was created 100 years ago, in 1924, when the first consolidation of the BSSR took place. The exhibition includes a manuscript of the poem, ten sections of which are united by a symbolic image of Belarus, which has gone through a difficult path and «settled in its own little house».

During the curator’s tour, the employees of the BGAMLI expressed interest in other exhibits presented at the exhibition. These are photographs of Sergei Pritytsky, a partisan movement activist in Western Belarus, Vladislava Lutsevich in Vyazanka and Radoshkovichi, during the opening of the monument to the singer, as well as books from Vladislava Lutsevich’s own library, etc.

At the end of the event, the employees of the BGAMLI shared their opinion on the need for a respectful attitude to memorable dates in the history of Belarusian statehood. The desire of Belarusians, going back centuries, to live with dignity in a single state was the main force that ensured the reunification of the peoples of Western and Eastern Belarus. The exhibition «Bezazonae» allows you to immerse yourself in the distant atmosphere of those historical events.

1.
