{"id":1015219,"date":"2024-08-09T09:10:46","date_gmt":"2024-08-09T06:10:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/archives.gov.by\/en\/?p=1015219"},"modified":"2024-08-09T09:10:46","modified_gmt":"2024-08-09T06:10:46","slug":"on-the-visit-of-gomel-archivists-to-the-exhibition-symbols-of-church-vestments-in-the-service-of-god-and-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archives.gov.by\/en\/news\/1015219","title":{"rendered":"On the visit of Gomel archivists to the exhibition \u00abSymbols of Church Vestments in the Service of God and People\u00bb"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On August 8, 2024, employees of the institution <strong>\u00abState Archives of the Gomel Region\u00bb<\/strong> and the institution <strong>\u00abState Archives of Public Associations of the Gomel Region\u00bb<\/strong> took part in the grand opening of the exhibition \u00abSymbols of Church Vestments in the Service of God and People\u00bb, dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the consecration of the Cathedral of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.<\/p>\n<p>The Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul deservedly has the status of the main Orthodox church in the city of Gomel, and is also a landmark of the Republic of Belarus. The construction of the temple was carried out according to the project of the English architect John Clarke over 10 years and was completed in 1819. The cathedral differed from all Gomel churches in its architectural style and decoration.
