On June 27, 2024, representatives of primary trade union organizations of government bodies, led by the chairman of the Gomel regional organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of State and Other Institution Workers, Alexander Vasilyevich Mataras, visited the institution \u00abState Archive of the Gomel Region\u00bb (hereinafter referred to as the State Archives of the Gomel Region).<\/p>\n

GAGom Director Andrei Nikolaevich Sushchevich delivered a welcoming speech to the invited guests. In his speech, he spoke about the history of the creation of the archive and its main areas of activity. In his opening speech, Andrei Nikolaevich paid much attention to the state symbols of Belarus.<\/p>\n

\u00abThe state symbols of the republic reflect the national idea of the people – the people\u2019s desire for an independent and peaceful life,\u00bb noted the director of the archive.<\/p>\n

The exhibition \u00abThe Unconquered Gomel Region\u00bb was also presented to the guests. This exhibition project is a significant contribution to the great work being carried out by archival institutions to preserve the historical memory of the events and participants of the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).<\/p>\n

Also in the reading room of the regional archive, the chairman of the Gomel regional organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Workers, Alexander Vasilyevich Mataras, presented a documentary exhibition \u00ab30 years of the institution of presidency in Belarus\u00bb for the participants of the event.<\/p>\n

\u00abFor the first time in the history of the country, the institution of the presidency was introduced in 1994 with the adoption of the first Constitution of a sovereign state. This became a key stage in the formation of a strong and sustainable executive power in Belarus,\u00bb noted Alexander Vasilyevich Mataras.<\/p>\n

In addition, the GAG organized a screening of the documentary film \u00abLiberation\u00bb for invited guests of Gomel. Speaking to the participants of the event, director of the archive Andrei Nikolaevich Suschevich spoke about the project \u00abOpen Film Archive. We brought this day closer as best we could,\u00bb which was prepared by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents, where the story of the liberation of the cities of Belarus is told in chronological order. Before watching the documentary \u00abLiberation,\u00bb the audience talked about the events of the Great Patriotic War and the need to preserve historical memory.<\/p>\n

After watching the documentary film, the leading archivist of the department of accounting and document preservation, Marina Vladimirovna Bortnovskaya, gave a tour of the archives to the invited guests.<\/p>\n
