On May 23, 2024, the 3rd International Scientific and Practical Conference \u00abArchival Dialogue. To the 100th anniversary of the First All-Belarusian Conference of Archivists\u00bb<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Deputy Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management A.E.Tsvetkov<\/strong> addressed those present with a welcoming speech, emphasizing the importance of holding such events, and also noted that archives are gradually evolving into scientific, cultural and educational centers.<\/p>\n

Deputy Director of NARB E.A.Stukanova<\/strong> congratulated the conference participants and noted that such events allow them to exchange work experience, establish new contacts and areas of cooperation. Elena Aleksandrovna also presented a collection of materials from scientific events held by NARB in 2023, \u00abArchive Diyalogue. Issue 2\u00bb.<\/p>\n

For active work in preparing the popular science publication \u00abArchives. Nothing but the truth\u00bb A.E.Tsvetkov presented letters of gratitude from the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Belarus to Deputy Director of NARB S.V.Kulinok<\/strong> and leading researcher of the Publications Department of NARB V.D.Selemenev<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The plenary session was moderated by Deputy Director of NARB S.V. Kulinok<\/strong>. Here were presentations by Professor of the Department of Source Studies of the BSU, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor M.F.Shumeiko<\/strong> (\u00abThe Role of the 1st All-Belarusian Conference of Archivists in the Formation and Development of Archival Science, Archeography, Record Management\u00bb) and a leading researcher at the Publications Department of the NARB, K.h.s. V.D.Selemeneva<\/strong> (\u00abOn the issue of using documents of the former Central Archives in the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus\u00bb).<\/p>\n

Representatives of the republican institutions (NARB, National Historical Archive of Belarus, National Historical Archive of Belarus in Grodno, Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photo Documents, Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art, Belarusian Research Institute of Documentation and Archival Science) took part in the conference in full-time\/correspondence format affairs, Belarusian Research Center for Electronic Documentation) and regional (state archives of Vitebsk and Mogilev regions) archival institutions, higher educational institutions (Institute of Management Personnel of the Academy of Management under the President of the Republic of Belarus, Belarusian State University, Belarusian State Agrarian Technical University, Minsk Regional Institute development of education, Polotsk State University named after Euphrosyne of Polotsk), National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (Institute of History, Center for Research of Belarusian Culture, Language and Literature), Maxim Bogdanovich Literary Museum, National Library of Belarus. The international component of the event was presented by scientists from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, the Center for the History of Russian Science and Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian State University for the Humanities. There were about 50 participants in total.<\/p>\n

Further work of the conference was organized in four sections. The first section \u00abArchival work in Belarus in the XX-XXI centuries: history, methodology, practice\u00bb presents reports by Deputy Director of NARB S.V.Kulinok<\/strong> (\u00abPublishing activities of the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus: experience and prospects\u00bb); employees of the publications department: researchers T.N.Ageenko<\/strong> (\u00abPartarchs and cadres (1929-1941)\u00bb), N.E.Kalesnik (\u00abBelarusian National Commissariat: History of Fund No.4 of the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus\u00bb), leading archivists Yu.N.Petukha<\/strong> (\u00abMaterials of the 2nd All-Belarusian Conference of Archivists as a source on the history of the development of the system of local archives of the BSSR in the 1920s\u00bb) and Ph.D. O.N.Borovskaya<\/strong> (\u00abAttempted investigations of the local archival collections from the BSSR from Poland at the 1st Belarusian Conference of Architectural Collectives\u00bb); Deputy Head of the Information Retrieval Systems Department V.Yu.Monzul<\/strong> (\u00abStock Catalog of State Archives of the Republic of Belarus as a publicly accessible source of information: experience of use and prospects for further improvement\u00bb). T.N.Ageenko and O.N.Borovskaya acted as moderators of the section.<\/p>\n

The second section was devoted to the source study potential of documents on the modern history of Belarus and the states of the post-Soviet space of the first half of the twentieth century. It featured reports by junior researcher of the publications department T.V.Petyukevich<\/strong> (\u00abThe problem of the insecurity of the Garad population of the BSSR zhyllem u adlustravanni pravazdach myastsovykh kamunalnye addzelau (1921-1928)\u00bb) and the head of the department of information retrieval systems O.Yu.Yurkevich<\/strong> (\u00abThe importance of archival documents in historical and legal research in the context of the history of civil law of the BSSR in the 1919\u20131940s\u00bb).<\/p>\n

The theme of the Great Patriotic War was of great importance in the work of the conference, especially on the eve of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. The work of the third section, \u00abThe Great Patriotic War as Reflected by Historical Sources\u00bb, was devoted to it, where leading experts, including from Russia, discussed numerous aspects of military history. Also presented here were reports by research associate of the publications department M.E.Tumash<\/strong> (\u00abCipher telegrams as a historical source\u00bb) and leading archivist of the department for the use of documents and information, Ph.D. V.P.Garmatny<\/strong> (\u00abIntelligence reports of the partisan brigade named after P.K.Ponomarenko as a source on the history of the Berezov region during the Nazi occupation\u00bb).<\/p>\n

The fourth section, \u00abArchival documents as a source for studying historical events (1944-2000s)\u00bb, was attended by a researcher from the Department for the Use of Documents and Information, Ph.D. V.G.Mazets<\/strong> (\u00abStan of automobile transport and road transport of the BSSR in another era of the 1940s – 1950s (past document of the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus)\u00bb).<\/p>\n
