The question arose about the upcoming celebration of <strong>the 30th anniversary of the liberation of Vitebsk<\/strong> from the Nazi invaders (June 26, 1944) and the 1000th anniversary of its founding (974). By these dates, a complex project &#8211; <strong>Victory Square<\/strong> &#8211; was conceived and completed in 2.5 years, with the organization of a monument ensemble, a recreation area and a transport hub in one place.<\/p>\n<p>In pre-holiday Vitebsk 2024, the square is undergoing another reconstruction, and from <a href=\"https:\/\/archives.gov.by\/wp-content\/uploads\/files\/\u041f\u043b\u043e\u0449\u0430\u0434\u044c.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">photographs preserved in the archive,<\/a> we remember what it was like 50 years ago.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In the early 1970s.
