Its consequences have had a profound impact on the health and environment of many countries, including Belarus. Radioactive releases from the destroyed reactor of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant led to widespread contamination of soil, water and air, causing thousands of deaths and millions of illnesses. According to official data, about 35% of the Chernobyl fallout on the European continent is located on the territory of Belarus. Contamination of the territory of Belarus with cesium-137 with a density of over 37 kBq/m2 amounted to 23% of the entire area of the republic (for Ukraine – 5%, Russia – 0.6%).

The exhibition was prepared on materials from the BGANTD fund No. 242 «State Institution «Research Clinical Institute of Radiation Medicine and Endocrinology» of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus.»

On April 26, 2024, the online exhibition «Chernobyl: Memory and Hope», dedicated to the 38th anniversary of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, opened in the Belarusian State…

[3

post-1013017","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-sitenews
