This holiday was established by Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No.157 of March 26, 1998.<\/p>\n<p>The history of the holiday begins on February 23, 1918, when the Red Guard troops won their first victories near Pskov and Narva over the regular troops of the Kaiser\u2019s Germany.<\/p>\n<p>In 1922, this date was officially declared Red Army Day.
