On February 15, 2024, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus<\/strong> hosted the opening of the photo-documentary exhibition \u00abEchoes of the Afghan War\u00bb<\/strong>, prepared by the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus.<\/p>\n

In accordance with Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated March 26, 1998 No. 157 \u00abOn public holidays, public holidays and memorable dates in the Republic of Belarus,\u00bb February 15 was declared the Day of Remembrance of Internationalist Soldiers. On this day in Belarus they remember and mourn all military personnel who died while performing military duty outside the Fatherland.<\/p>\n

On February 15, 1989, the last units of the Limited contingent of Soviet troops left the territory of Afghanistan. For Soviet military personnel, the Afghan War ended not in victory or defeat, but in enormous tragedy and unabated pain.<\/p>\n

Having gone through an incredibly difficult and dangerous path in 1979-1989, the internationalist warriors throughout this time showed courage, dedication, bravery and comradely mutual assistance. Upon returning home, former military personnel demonstrated solidarity and mutual support by uniting to solve various life problems and overcome physical and moral trauma.<\/p>\n

The exhibition presents documents reflecting the activities of state and party bodies of the BSSR and the Republic of Belarus, public organizations and associations of the country in solving social issues of internationalist soldiers, as well as perpetuating the memory of their feat in the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan: orders for the construction of memorial complexes and monuments to internationalist soldiers , on the establishment of personal pensions for military personnel who became disabled while performing international duty, resolutions of the Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPB on measures to implement proposals and comments expressed by internationalist soldiers at meetings in the Central Committee of the CPB, etc.<\/p>\n

Also at the exhibition are documents from personal funds: certificates for awards, diplomas, photographs of Soviet military personnel, representatives of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan, and the civilian population of the country.<\/p>\n

Employees of the central office of the Ministry of Justice got acquainted with the exhibition. The head of the department of personal funds I.V.Dorogush<\/strong> and the leading archivist T.I.Brileva<\/strong> spoke about the composition of the documents presented at the exhibition and answered questions from those present.<\/p>\n
