On the eve of National Unity Day<\/strong>, which is celebrated in the Republic of Belarus on September 17<\/strong>, a ceremonial meeting of the team was held at the NIA of Belarus on September 15, 2023. <\/p>\n

In his welcoming speech, the director of the archive, Mikhail Glushakov<\/strong>, emphasized the great significance of the events of September 17, 1939 for the past, present and future of Belarus. Then Deputy Director Irina Kovganova<\/strong> made a presentation in which she spoke about the difficult situation of Western Belarus<\/strong> during its 1921\u20131939 rule under Polish rule, the historical context of the Red Army\u2019s Liberation Campaign in Western Belarus in September 1939<\/strong>, the main milestones of the process of reunification of Western Belarus<\/strong> with the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In addition, I. Kovganova took part in the ceremony dedicated to National Unity Day at the state educational institution \u00abSecondary School No. 27 in Minsk\u00bb<\/strong>. During her speech, the deputy director of the archive told the students about the materials stored in the National Historical Archive, revealing the circumstances of Western Belarus being part of Poland, and gave the school copies of documents from church registers reflecting the Polish authorities\u2019 implementation of the policy of Polonization of the Belarusian people.<\/p>\n

Employees of the Scientific Research Institute of Belarus, as well as the teaching staff and students of secondary school No. 27 listened with great interest to the messages dedicated to National Unity Day.<\/p>\n
