On September 1, 2023, the Faculty of History of the Belarusian State University<\/strong> (BSU) hosted traditional events dedicated to the Day of Knowledge<\/strong> and the beginning of the new academic year.<\/p>\n

The meeting was organized by the Department of Source Studies of the Faculty of History of the Belarusian State University in order to familiarize students studying in the specialties \u00abDocumentation\u00bb and \u00abArchival Business\u00bb with their future profession.<\/p>\n

O.A. Ledovskaya, First Deputy Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus<\/strong>, and A.E. Rybakov, Director of the Institution \u00abBelarusian Research Institute of Documentation and Archiving\u00bb<\/strong> spoke to the first-year students of the Department of Archives of the Faculty of History.<\/p>\n

The speakers congratulated the first-year students on entering the Faculty of History of the Belarusian State University and expressed confidence that many of them would later give preference to working in the archives.<\/p>\n

O.A. Ledovskaya told the audience about the structure of the archival industry, a wide range of activities within the framework of the digital transformation of state archival institutions, where the key area is to provide open access to digital copies of documents of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus, noted the importance of implementing republican Internet projects, including \u00abPartisans of Belarus\u00bb<\/strong>, implemented by the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus together with the publishing house \u00abBelarus Segodnya\u00bb, as well as the development of the site \u00abBelarusian villages burned during the Great Patriotic War\u00bb<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Internet projects \u00abDocumentary chronicle of Belarus\u00bb, which will result in a description of the history of Belarus from 1919 to 1992, as well as \u00abCities of Belarus\u00bb<\/strong>, \u00abBiography of my country\u00bb<\/strong>, \u00abOpen Access\u00bb<\/strong>, \u00abOpen Film Archive\u00bb<\/strong> were especially noted.<\/p>\n

The Republican campaign \u00abArchives for School\u00bb<\/strong>, initiated in 2022 by the Department of Archives and Records Management, as well as its component project \u00abYoung Archivist\u00bb, which starts this autumn, did not go unnoticed.<\/p>\n

The students received information about the implementation of publishing projects, among which the most significant in recent years were the multi-volume publication \u00abWithout a statute of limitations\u00bb, as well as the book \u00abArchives, nothing but the truth\u00bb published jointly with the Belarusian Telegraph Agency.<\/p>\n

A.E. Rybakov, in his speech, dwelled on topical scientific and methodological problems in the field of archiving and office work, the close connection between document specialists and archivists in achieving the goal of preserving the documentary historical and cultural heritage of the country.<\/p>\n

In conclusion, representatives of the archival industry who spoke to the students expressed their hope that the knowledge gained by the students of the Faculty of History of BSU will become the basis for their future activities in the framework of historical science and archiving.<\/p>\n
