The theatre’s literary editor Yuri Gennadyevich IVANOVSKY<\/strong> spoke about the history of the theatre, its actors and iconic performances; introduced to the building. The archivists visited the \u00abbehind the scenes\u00bb: in the props and sewing shops, in the theater warehouse, in the props room. And also looked into the dressing rooms.<\/p>\n

The theater was founded on November 21, 1926 in Vitebsk as the Second Belarusian State Theater (BGT-2) from graduates of the Belarusian Drama Studio in Moscow.<\/p>\n

It is the only regional theater with the status of National.<\/p>\n

The names of many famous Belarusian actors are connected with the history of our theater. Among them are Zinaida Konopelko, Galina Markina, Alexander Ilyinsky and many others. The personal documents of these actors are stored in the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region.<\/p>\n
