The date was set to commemorate the first manned flight into space. On this day in 1961, Soviet cosmonaut <strong>Yuri Gagarin<\/strong> on <strong>the Vostok-1<\/strong> spacecraft launched from <strong>the Baikonur Cosmodrome<\/strong> and for the first time in the world made an orbital flight around the planet Earth.<\/p>\n<p>The event was of great importance for the further development of astronautics and all mankind. The space theme at this time became the most popular.
