F. Sokolovsky held a requiem lesson \u201cWhat the bells of Khatyn ring about?\u201d for 1st and 4th grade students.<\/p>\n<p>The event was dedicated to a terrible page in the history of our country &#8211; the burning of the Belarusian village of Khatyn by the Nazi invaders during the Great Patriotic War. The director of the state archives, <strong>Natalya Abramova<\/strong>, noted the importance of preserving the memory of the history of the Great Patriotic War, and gave examples of the burned villages of the Gomel region: Khvoinya (Kopotkevichi district, Polesye region) &#8211; 1412 killed in March 1942; Kobyleva (Vasilevichi district) &#8211; 1118 killed in May 1943; Ola (Parichi district, Polesye region) &#8211; 1758 killed in January 1944, etc.<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy Prosecutor of Gomel District Alexander Shinkarev reminded that on 7 April 2021 the Prosecutor General&#8217;s Office of the Republic of Belarus initiated a criminal case concerning the genocide of the Belarusian population during the Great Patriotic War and the postwar period.
