Cancer Prevention&#8221; is held in Belarus, timed to coincide with the Single Day of Health (18 November 2021).<\/p>\n<p>The aim of the campaign is <strong>to raise public awareness about the harmful health effects of tobacco consumption and exposure to tobacco smoke<\/strong>, and to build civil society support for measures aimed at combating tobacco consumption in accordance with the provisions of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tobacco smoke causes and aggravates many diseases, affecting almost all organs<\/strong>. Tobacco products, along with other carcinogens, are the leading cause of cancer. Smoking provokes 18 forms of cancer: lung, oesophagus, larynx and mouth cavity, bladder, pancreas, kidneys, stomach, breast, cervix and others. In addition to the high risk of various forms of malignant neoplasms, continued smoking has a negative impact on the specific treatment of these diseases.<\/p>\n<p>It has been found that <strong>patients who smoke, compared to nonsmokers, have a shorter life expectancy, an increased risk of recurrence or a second tumor, reduced treatment efficacy and reduced quality of life<\/strong>.
