On September 11, 2021, the Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings (BGAKFFD) took part in the final and key event of the Festival of Science (6-11 September)<\/strong>, held in the format of an intellectual and entertainment program at the Central Botanical Garden of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The festival has been organized by the Council of Young Scientists with the support of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus since 2018, and by now has become one of the largest platforms for the popularization of science. It is attended by higher educational institutions, museums, archives, laboratories, research institutes, foreign research, scientific-production and other organizations.<\/p>\n

The BGAKFFD exposition at the Botanical Gardens was dedicated to the history of science in photography. The stand displayed photographic documents from the BGAKFFD holdings covering the time period from the 1870s to the present day on topics related to the history of science and the Botanical Garden. The visitors could see what types of media are used to store photographic documents in the archives. Different models of photo cameras and film developing equipment displayed at the exposition have become excellent evidence about the development of photography technology in the second half of the last century. Among the guests was the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Belarus M.V. Ryzhenkov. V.G. Gusakov, Chairman of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus visited the exposition with the delegation.<\/p>\n

Visitors were provided with lectures at four thematic platforms – “Extreme Science”, “Leaving the Earth”, “Living Forever”, and a lecture platform in blitz format, where they could learn about energy, genetically modified organisms, and the space program of Belarus. At the master classes the visitors could try themselves as experimental scientists. At the exhibition of the best developments of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, everyone could see a variety of exhibits, including archaeological artefacts, unmanned aerial vehicles and much more. The event was also attended by foreign guests, in particular the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom (Russian Federation) with an educational and entertainment platform \u201cAtom-City\u201d. Exciting entertainment combined with intellectual entertainment in an interactive form made the event especially interesting and informative.<\/p>\n

The festival found a lively response among the residents of Minsk, guests to the capital and all those interested in science and will be remembered for its friendly and relaxed atmosphere.<\/p>\n
