The project \u00abThe life and work of prominent researcher of Belarusian history \r\nMitrofan Victorovich DOVNAR-ZAPOLSKY. To the 150th birthday anniversary\u00bb is a special rubric on the Archives of \r\nBelarus website, an internet resource of the archives and RM authorities and the \r\nstate archives network in the Republic of Belarus.<\/p>\r\n
The offered material is dedicated to M.V. Dovnar-Zapolsky \u2013 an outstanding \r\nscholar, founder of Belarusian national historiography, researcher of Russian \r\nhistory, a socially active person with many academic \r\ninterests that he combined with teaching, pedagogical activity, social work and \r\ngovernment service, a man of principle and patriot, who directed his activity \r\nto the national revival of Belarus. <\/p>\r\n
Purposes<\/strong>\r\n Structure The exhibition features over 140 documents and materials (their electronic \r\ncopies). Around 130 documents are available from Belarusian archival \r\ninstitutions: Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art, National \r\nArchives of the Republic of Belarus, National Historical Archives of Belarus in \r\nMinsk, Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings and \r\nBelarusian Research Center for Electronic Records. The exhibition consists of eight thematic sections with data about \r\nDovnar-Zapolsky’s family, studies, activities in science, \r\neducation, diplomatics, his economic, social and political life, evaluation \r\nof his works and \r\ncommemoration. <\/p>\r\n The bulk of the exposition are textual documents \u2013 printed documents, \r\nmanuscripts (including autographs) and typescripts\r\n(in full \r\ntext and fragments) in Russian and Belarusian languages. The rest of the \r\nexhibition are photographs. There are maps created by M.V. \r\nDovnar-Zapolsky and E.F. Karsky.<\/p>\r\n The exhibited documents cover the period of the 19th to the 21st century. These are \r\nDovnar-Zapolsky’s personal records \u2013 an autobiography, correspondence with his \r\nfather, photographs of relatives and colleagues, etc. There are official documents \r\nof the governing bodies and various reviews of Dovnar-Zapolsky’s activities. <\/p>\r\n The project also includes printed editions and publications with data on relevant documents \r\nheld in archives in Belarus and \r\nother countries and\/or prepared with the participation of Belarusian archival \r\ninstitutions. \r\n
\r\nIn addition, 18 electronic \r\ncopies of documents have been presented by the Central State Historical Archives of Ukraine in \r\nKyiv and three photographs are taken from a personal collection.
