Dunin-Martsinkevich’s third book of poetry, which includes a popular novella\r\n"Kupala" in Belarusian (1855), a versed story in three scenes "The Blessed\r\nFamily" (1856), a versed historical narration in two songs "The Slavs in the\r\n19th Century" (1856), and a Polish poem "Am I Really Old" (1856). <\/p>\r\n\r\n
The Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art has the second edition of\r\n"Kupala" set in Latin script at the St. Petersburg publishing house\r\n"Zagliane sontsa i u nasha akontsa" in 1910. <\/p>\r\n\r\n
The main idea of the versed novella "Kupala" is the moral purity of the\r\npeople. The story tells how a village girl, Agatka, fell in love with a young landlord who\r\ndid not dare to marry her, and Agatka came back to her former lover, a village boy Sauka.\r\nThe events develop on the folk feast of Kupalle, which is here in detail described. <\/p>\r\n\r\n
The story in verse "The Blessed Family" deals with the problem of moral\r\nideals, family values, poetizes the love for native land. Alice, the granddaughter of an\r\nold nobleman Martsin, who grows his children in respect for parents, marries a family\r\ntutor, Uladzislau, who by his behaviour has deserved a good attitude from the noble\r\nfamily.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
The historical narration "The Slavs in the 19th Century" is dedicated to the\r\nnational liberation struggle of the southern Slavs against the Turkish oppression. <\/p>\r\n\r\n
The poem "Am I Really Old" focuses on the relationship between the creator\r\nand the people.
