    The Archives holds records on the postwar history of the region. Among these are the\r\nfonds of the government and administrative agencies that contain data on the\r\nimplementation of resolutions and directives issued by the higher government bodies, the\r\nwork of and election to the deputies’ councils, the protection of public order, plans for\r\nthe restoration of economy destroyed in WWII, assistance to the population in the\r\nfrontline and partisan-controlled areas most suffered from the Nazi occupation, the\r\ncreation of the voluntary monetary fund for assistance to servicemen’s families. <\/p>\r\n\r\n

    Some documents contain information on the Nazi crimes in World War II, lists of the\r\nregion’s residents sent for forced labour in Germany and those killed, hanged or tortured\r\nby the Nazis. There are data on the establishment of relations between Borisov and its\r\ntwin towns, the combat chronicle of the Normandia-Neman air squadron, and correspondence\r\nwith the squadron’s veteran pilots.\u00a0 <\/p>\r\n\r\n

    The fonds of various industrial enterprises contain records of the chemical, light,\r\nautomobile, wood-processing and fuel industries, the tractor and agricultural\r\nmachine-building. There are data on the Stakhanovite movement, socialist competition,\r\ninnovators and shock workers. <\/p>\r\n\r\n

    The fonds of agricultural and forestry agencies, agricultural boards, agroindustrial\r\namalgamations, collective and state farms, and machine-and-tractor stations contain data\r\non the restoration and development of agriculture in the postwar period, the state of\r\ncattle breeding, crop yields, etc.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

    The fonds of construction and transportation agencies, communal services and trade\r\ninstitutions contain information concerning the industrial, civil, housing, social and\r\ncultural construction, the improvement of settlements, the introduction of advanced\r\ntechnologies in the production, etc. <\/p>\r\n\r\n

    The fonds of education, health care, sports, social protection, cultural and science\r\ninstitutions illustrate the development of education and science, the training of\r\nspecialists for national economy, the growth of population’s welfare, the measures aimed\r\nto improve medical and social protection, the development of sports and physical training.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n

    The fonds of social organizations throw light on the role of trade and labour unions in\r\nthe development of fair attitude, the observance of labour law, labour protection and\r\naccident prevention, the development of socialist competition, etc. <\/p>\r\n\r\n
