Historical background"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"submenu\">\r\n<a href=\"\/en\/?page_id=616989\">Contacts<\/a><br>\r\n<a href=\"\/en\/?page_id=934247\">Description of holdings<\/a><br>\r\n<a href=\"\/en\/?page_id=674475\">Finding aids<\/a>\r\n<\/div>\r\n<h2>Historical background<\/h2>\r\n\r\n<p>The Archives was established in November 1922 as the Mogilev-Gomel Archival Bureau of\r\nthe Gomel Province Executive Committee, which was reorganized as the Gomel Province\r\nArchival Repository at the Gomel Province Public Education Department in May 1923, and as\r\nthe Gomel Province Archival Bureau in November 1923.\u00a0 <\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>In January 1927, the archival bureau was reorganized as the Gomel Okrug\u00a0 Archives\r\nof the Central Archival Administration of the Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic (BSSR);\r\nin July 1930, as the Gomel Division of the Central Archival Administration of the BSSR.
