Historical background"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"submenu\">\r\n<a href=\"\/en\/?page_id=442279\">Contacts<\/a><br>\r\n<a href=\"\/en\/?page_id=981708\">Description of holdings<\/a><br>\r\n<a href=\"\/en\/?page_id=784284\">Finding aids<\/a><\/div>\r\n<h2>Historical background<\/h2>\r\n\r\n<p>The Archives was established as the Party Archives at the Gomel Regional Committee of\r\nthe Communist Party (of Bolsheviks) of Belarus in March 1940. <\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>In August 1941 the Party Archives was evacuated to eastern districts of the Soviet\r\nUnion; the considerable part of documents was destroyed in German air raids. <\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>After the liberation of Belarus the remaining documents were transferred to the\r\nArchives of the Party History Institute at the Central Committee of the Communist Party of\r\nBelarus. <\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>In September 1947 the Archives resumed its work as the Party Archives at the Gomel\r\nRegional Committee of the Communist Party (of Bolsheviks) of Belarus.
