Historical background"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"submenu\"><p>\r\n<a href=\"\/en\/?page_id=727325\">Contacts<\/a><br>\r\n<a href=\"\/en\/?page_id=500213\">Activities<\/a> <br>\r\n<a href=\"\/en\/?page_id=545532\">Structure<\/a><br>\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n<h2>Historical background<\/h2>\r\n\r\n<p>The Republic-level Technical Laboratory for Security Microfilming of Permanent Records\r\n(RTLM SFD) dates its origin from August 1981, when the Special Laboratory for Microfilming\r\nof Scientific Documentation was established at the Gomel &#8220;Luch&#8221; Design Bureau.\r\nMethodical guidance was provided by the Research Institute of\r\nEconomics and Radioelectronics Information at the Ministry of Radioindustry of the USSR.\r\nThe laboratory conducted microfilming of technical documents attached to special\r\nengineering products produced by the &#8220;Vympel&#8221; Central Scientific-Production\r\nIncorporation\u00a0 and the Ministry of Radioindustry with their further transfer to the\r\nrepository of security copies (in the town of Protva, Kaluga Region, Russia).<br>\r\n<u><br>\r\n<\/u>In March 1992, the laboratory came under the jurisdiction of the Gomel Division of\r\nBelarusian Railway.\u00a0 <br>\r\n<br>\r\nOn August 20, 1993 the laboratory was included into the State Archival Service of the\r\nRepublic of Belarus in subordination to the Committee for\r\nArchives and Records Management under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus,\r\nand received its present name. The main activity of the laboratory was the creation of\r\nsecurity copies for the most valuable records held in the state archives by means of\r\nmicrophotocopying. <br>\r\n<br>\r\nIn 2001, with the advance of new computer technologies the laboratory began to transfer\r\nthe most valuable records onto electronic media with the purpose of creating their\r\nreference or convenience copies.<br>\r\n<br>\r\nIn accordance with Order No.137 of the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Belarus &#8220;On the Reorganization of the Institution&#8221; dated August 26, 2025, the Central Laboratory for Ensuring the Preservation of Documents of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus was reorganized by merging with the Republican Laboratory for Digital Copying of Documents of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus.
