The book contains data on records created by the Belarusian Society in Petrograd for Assistance to War Victims. The Society provided aid to refugees from Belarus, Belarusian students who studied in higher educational institutions in Petrograd, maintained relations with Belarusian organisations in Minsk. Some of the society’s records are now held at the Central State Historical Archives in St. Petersburg (Fond 1935), the other part at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (Fond 672). The book is a collaboration of the Central State Historical Archives in St. Petersburg and the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus and presents an annotated list of records. There are descriptions of the society’s records from the Belarusian National Commissariat (NARB, Fond 40). The appendix includes a list of members of the society held at the National Historical Archives of Belarus and an annotated name index. The directory is illustrated with facsimile copies of selected records. The book is intended for archivists and historians and will be of interest to general readers in the history of Belarus and St. Petersburg.

The book is dedicated to WWI military graves. Contains descriptions and photos of 95 burial sites of Austro-Hungarian, German and Russian soldiers in the regions of Brest, Grodno and Minsk in the Republic of Belarus. A larger list, in the form of a table, gives data on 297 military burial sites in the provinces of Brest, Vitebsk, Grodno and Minsk. A separate appendix includes a list of Austrian soldiers who were buried near the town of Beryoza, Brest Region. The book is recommended for historians, archivists, museum staff and will be of interest to the wider reading public.
