Eurasia DOC CIS Countries Documentary Film Festival unveiled in Minsk

The Eurasia DOC CIS Countries Documentary Film Festival has opened in Minsk. The Festival marks four years, three of which took place in the Belarusian capital. According to its organizers, the choice fell on Minsk because “it serves as a unifying center of the peoples”.

This year the Festival started in Smolensk, Russia and continued in Minsk. On 3 October the Belarusian documentary “Doctor Shuba” was shown to the public in Minsk. Produced by the Letopis Film Studio and directed by the People’s Artist of Belarus Anatoly Alay, the film is based on documentary sources and is dedicated to the fate of the famous Belarusian surgeon, Honorary Physician of the Belarusian SSR, Chief of the First Clinical Hospital in Minsk, Alexey Ivanovich Shuba. The film has widely used documents available from the Belarusian State Archives of Scientific and Technical Documentation, the Belarusian State Archives of Films, Photographs and Sound Recordings, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, the State Archives of Minsk Region etc.
