Signing of the Memorandum between the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus and the National Records and Archive Authority of the Sultanate of Oman

On 18 September 2019 the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus and the National Records and Archive Authority of the Sultanate of Oman signed the Memorandum of Understanding in the sphere of historical documentation, records and archives administration.

The Memorandum was signed by the Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Belarus Justice Ministry Victor Kourash and the Chairman of the National Records and Archive Authority of the Sultanate of Oman H.E. Dr. Hamad Al-Dhawayani.

The Belarusian-Omani cooperation in the field of archives started in the summer of 2018, when the Omani delegation visited the Republic of Belarus. As part of further cooperation, the Belarusian Department for Archives and Records Management initiated the conclusion of the international inter-agency agreement with the National Records and Archive Authority of the Sultanate of Oman.

The signed Memorandum is directed at the promotion of bilateral relations in the field of archives and records management in the Republic of Belarus and the Sultanate of Oman. This provides for exchange of archive copies on the history of two countries, visits of expert delegations on issues of information technologies, including restoration of archival documents, development of electronic government and electronic recordkeeping, organization of events in preservation of documental heritage of Belarus and Oman, exhibition projects, and more.
