The final stage of the republic-level contest “The Best Archivist of Belarus” was held at the State Archives of Brest Region
The final stage of the republic-level professional contest “The Best Archivist of Belarus” was held on 17-18 October at the State Archives of Brest Region. 17 archivists participated at the contest.
The organizers of the contest are the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry of the Republic of Belarus and the public association “The Belarusian Society of Archivists” with the support of the Belarusian Trade Union of Workers of Government Institutions and Other Organizations.
The objectives of the contest are to bring out and support the best archivists with high professional level, to create a positive image of the archive business, to increase the social status of the archive profession and to encourage archivists to research more the history of Belarus on the basis of archival documents.
The contest included two stages. At the first stage the contesters presented their works on the topic “The small homeland in the documents of the National Archival Holdings of the Republic of Belarus”. The second stage was conducted in the form of theoretical and practical tasks on the legal aspects of the activities at the state archival institutions.
The winners of the contest have been presented with diplomas and prizes – Svetlana Kuzina (division head at the Local State Archives in Kobrin); Tatiana Ageyenko (leading research fellow at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus); Natalia Fedotova-Shner (leading archivist at the State Archives of Vitebsk Region) and Yulia Gryadovka (leading archivist at the Local State Archives in Orsha).
