Delegation of Belarusian archivists took part in the 18th General Conference of the Eurasian Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives (EURASICA)

The delegation of Belarusian archivists headed by Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry of the Republic of Belarus, Victor Kourash, took part in the 18th General Conference of the Eurasian Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives (EURASICA), the session of the Consultative Council of the heads of the state archival services of the CIS member states, and the international scholarly conference “Current issues related to the acquisition of archives”.

The events took place on 20-22 June 2017 in Yerevan, Republic of Armenia.

The Belarusian delegation included Director of the State Archives of Brest Region A.G. Karapuzova, acting director at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus E.V. Kushnova, Director of the Belarusian Research Institute of Records Management and Archival Studies (VNIIDAD) A.E. Rybakov.

At the 18th EURASICA General Conference the representatives of archival institutions from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Uzbekistan discussed the results of work of the Eurasian Branch in 2016, and the results of the 18th International Congress of Archives in 2016 in Seoul (Republic of Korea). The next session of EURASICA will take place in 2018 in Warsaw (Republic of Poland).

The Consultative Council heard reports on the development of archive business in the CIS countries, and the report of VNIIDAD Institute on its work as a basic institution in retraining and advanced training in archival studies and records management in CIS countries. The Council discussed the topical issues of cooperation in archive business in CIS countries. The next Consultative Council of the heads of the state archival services of the CIS member states is scheduled to take place in 2018 in Moscow (Russian Federation).

The international scholarly conference “Current issues related to the acquisition of archives” heard reports by E.V. Kushnova («Topical issues in the acquisition of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus in modern conditions») and A.E. Rybakov («Acquisition of Belarusian archives: modern challenges, solutions, perspectives»).
