A republic-level workshop on the Acquisition and Management of Personal Papers at the Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art
The Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art and the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry held on 8 December 2016 a republic-level workshop on the topic “ The Acquisition and Management of Personal Papers at the Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art”.
Attendees at the workshop were members of the Department for Archives and Records Management, and heads and employees of the state archives who conduct work with personal papers.
The workshop was opened by First Deputy Director of the Department for Archives and Records Management Olga Biryukova.
Division heads at the Department for Archives and Records Management, L. Tsymbal and A. Kochetkova informed the participants on the normative and legal acts pertaining to the issues of acquisition of personal papers by the state archives in Belarus, and the specifics of their preservation and arrangement.
Director of the Archives-Museum of Literature and Art, A. Zapartyko spoke on the issues of work with the potential owners-creators of personal papers.
Staff members of the Archives-Museum of Literature and Art shared their experiences on personal records appraisal, preservation and use, making of file inventories and finding aids to personal records, work with printed material and museum items accessioned in personal collections.
