Inauguration of the new building for the National Historical Archives in Grodno

On 30 October 2014 the National Historical Archives in Grodno held inauguration ceremony to celebrate the completion of its new building.

The participants at the ceremony were Belarusian Minister of Justice O. Slizhevsky, director of the Department for Archives and Records Management of the Justice Ministry V. Adamushko, deputy chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee V. Liskovich, director of the Grodno Administration for Capital Construction A. Vrublevsky, director of the Grodno Industrial Engineering A. Vagabov and other honorary guests.

The reconstruction of the arhive’s building, as an important governmental social and cultural site, was conducted within the State Investment Programme. Over 36 billion roubles have been spent. The new building is equipped with modern technology for the preservation of unique archival records on the history of Belarus. The archive is equipped with metal shelves, modern systems of ventilation, security and fire alarm, an automatic fire suppression system. The Archive has a new cabinet for cleaning and disinfection of records, a book scanner for making digital copies of documents and finding aids, a server and computer equipment for work with an automatic archival information system, an exhibition equipment, reading tools for microfilmed records, and more.
